Package leak detector and seal integrity tester

High quality packaging seal integrity tester that adds quality control measures to your packaging applications

Package Leak Detector

The FlexPak leak detector performs high-quality seal integrity testing to ensure your packaging is sealed to your standards. Our technology gives you the confidence that your package is reaching its destination fully sealed and intact. Whether you operate in food and beverage, medical and pharmaceutical, or anything in between, FlexPak has a solution for you.

Using a Package Leak Detector

The FlexPak package leak detector can be used to test a variety of packaging types, including stand-up pouches, packages with modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), rigid trays, vacuum skin packs, thermoform packages, sachets, flow wraps, form fill seal (VFFS) and re-closable packages. Wherever package seal integrity is critical, our vacuum seal tester can be used to detect faults in your package’s seal, seam, or closure before it leaves your facility – saving you thousands of dollars in potential recalls and spoiled product.

How the Vacuum Seal Tester Works

The FlexPak leak detector and seal integrity testing device consists of a clear acrylic vacuum tank (or “water bath”), a control valve, and a vacuum gauge. The leak detector utilizes stainless-steel working parts to avoid corrosion and ensure the highest durability.

To operate the leak detector, the acrylic vacuum tank is first filled with water before simply placing your package inside the tank. The lid is then closed, and the vacuum can then be engaged. If bubbles appear, you have a leak! The operator will visually be able to determine the location of the leak and can alter manufacturing to remedy the issue. A complete test can be accomplished in just a matter of seconds – providing confidence in the integrity of your package’s seals and seams.

Leak tester works great!

Leak tester works great and this will save me hours of time every week. Ultimately I’ll be able to turn this over to our hourly workforce. Thanks again for a great product.

Ross Daharsh P.E.  -  Eaton Corporation

We rely heavily on the reliabilty of these FlexPak Leak Detectors

Firstly we have three tanks in our production area that are used everyday and all day with minimal maintenance. The operators check finished product every hour for verification of seals and can rely on the visual result. It has been great to pinpoint seal failures and fractures of our pouches, where we can quickly fix a defect when noticed. All our testing is done inline with our bag machines so we rely heavily on the reliabilty of these FlexPak Leak Detectors.
Also since I do most of the maintenance on these tanks, I can honestly say they’re built tough, easy to clean and changing the seals is a breeze. We put these tanks through a lot, lids opening and closing all day long and with no issues. We have a tank purchased in 2013 and its still going with no end in sight, used everyday.
It’s a solid product and has become an essential part of our quality system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Standard units do not have power requirements, but do require access to compressed air services (see spec. sheet). EVP units require a 120V/240V power supply. All units require a water source for filling the tank, and a means to drain liquid from the Leak Detector after testing. A dedicated water line is not required, as the tank can be filled and drained manually.

The model names specify the inside dimensions of the Leak Detector. For example – the FP181210 model has interior dimensions of 18” (width) x 12” (depth) x 10” (height).

We currently do not offer in-house testing services. For specific product questions please reach out to the FlexPak team.

Lead times vary depending on the Leak Detector model. Typically, table-top units are in stock and ready to ship, while floor-stand/add-on units have a minimum lead time of one week.

The FlexPak Leak Detectors are designed to operate as an off-line (i.e. batch) solution. We do not currently offer an in-line model.
